Did you know that less than 20% of homeless animals are rescued from shelters? That makes me really sad. Sometimes I wish I could adopt all of the cats at my local shelter, but I can’t (not only because I live in a small apartment, but my husband might have a few objections). Animal shelters are great. While newborn kittens are often adopted right away, some grown cats live months or even years in a shelter before they are adopted. And that’s only if they are lucky enough to be adopted. Consider checking out your local shelter for your next pet. You could help save one (or more!) of the 7 million homeless companion animals in the United States.
Petfinder.com is a great tool to find local shelter pets who are looking for a good home.
